The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in language teaching and learning is
a great contributory factor in improving the teachers? professional skills and has furthermore emerged as a
transformative approach that enhances interactivity and engagement among learners. This paper explores
the multifaceted benefits of incorporating ICT tools in language education, highlighting their potential to
foster collaborative learning environments, facilitate personalized learning experiences, and improve
language proficiency outcomes. However, there are challenges such as digital literacy gaps, limited access
to technology, and insufficient professional development which hinder the full potential of ICT in language
learning. This research is hinged on the theory of constructivism and connectivism which emphasise active
learning and knowledge construction as well as knowledge distributed across networks where connections
and connectedness inform learning respectively. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and
case studies, this study identifies effective strategies for ICT integration in language classrooms,
emphasising the role of technology in promoting active participation and motivation among students.
Ultimately, the findings underscore the necessity of adopting innovative pedagogical practices that leverage
ICT to create dynamic and responsive language learning experiences. The study therefore concludes that
ICT integration in the classroom enhances interactive language teaching and learning. |
