The advent of modern technologies has ushered in new innovative teaching modes into the education sector.
This study compared the interest of tertiary education students in Face-to-Face Teaching (FTFT) and
Hybrid Teaching (HT) modes. The objectives of the study are to compare students? interest in the two
modes and determine the extent of their interest in the two. The primary data were gathered from 65
respondents. The study has a descriptive survey design and mixed-method was employed utilizing both
quantitative and qualitative analyses. The results reveal that students are more interested in FTFT mode
than the HT mode; and the extent of their interest in the FTFT mode is as high as against their low interest
in the HT mode. Consequently, the study concluded that students of tertiary institutions are largely more
interested in FTFT mode than in HT mode. Stakeholders are charged to make concerted efforts toward
increasing the interest of the students in the HT, while strengthening the FTFT mode further. These include
creating high level of awareness, providing the needed resources, rendering supports and training, and
practicing meaningful stakeholder collaboration for exchange of expertise, knowledge and resources. |
